A summer treat for El Doradoans
For over 90 years, the El Dorado Municipal Band has been a special part of summer in Butler County. Originally formed by a City of El Dorado charter ordinance in 1923 as a boys band, the group is now comprised of high school and adult community musicians. While you can find the Municipal Band in a variety of venues, most concerts are held in Forest Park’s historic band shell located on the corner of West 9th Street and North Taylor.
Today, the El Dorado Municipal Band delivers 10 concerts during the summer throughout the community, performing works ranging from rock to jazz to patriotic to movie soundtracks; you will always be surprised and delighted during an El Dorado Municipal Band event. Patrons can show their appreciation for Butler Community College, as the Municipal Band sponsors an ice cream social and bake sale during two concerts; all proceeds support a music scholarship at Butler.
Make our tradition one of your traditions by attending this FREE family-friendly activity, as a performer or a member of the audiences. Most concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Park band shell located on the corner of West 9th Street and North Taylor.
